SGM 16th November 2025

This meeting was called by the club committee who attempted to promote it as the delayed Annual General Meeting that should have been held in March 2025 to comply with Club Rules.

The committee were advised of procedural and meeting content failures that supported a contradictory view that this meeting could not be classified as an Annual General Meeting.

The committee promoted the view that the 9 month delay was a consequence of financial irregularities that they were alleging had occurred from some time in September 2024 onwards, and which had remained undiscovered for a lengthy period, as well as extremely poor accounting records that had resulted in an extremely confusing picture with respect to the preparation of the formal accounts for the year ending 31st December 2024.

The committee had convened an earlier Special General Meeting of club members on 15th June 2025 and had initially provided relevant information to club members.

As a consequence of what some perceived as serious failures in the committee's actions (or indeed inaction) the agenda for this meeting included a proposition that reflected the opinion that members might wish to consider the degree of confidence they might have in the committee.

That proposition was discussed and placed before members for a vote and the view that negligence was apparent, with some unnamed committee members potentially also being considered reckless, in their approach to governance was supported by 14 votes with the 10 other members present abstaining.

The members were made aware that club rules did not actually include any provision for a vote of no-confidence and the committee might only be relied to respond appropriately at their discretion.

The committee's response was simply to organise a further Special General Meeting for the 14th December 2025 with steps being taken to seek nominations for the annual election of the Chairperson, Treasurer and 3 vacancies that existed for committee members.

Despite club rules stipulating that certain committee members, with clear culpability for the club's situation, should seek re-election the committee adopted a position, expressed in the notice requesting nominations for the forthcoming election, that those individuals had no need to stand for re-election.
